Sage's Sanctum

Deputy

Whether you are a half-Angel who was deputized at birth, or you impressed an Angel enough to be deputized as a non-Angel, you’ve been granted divine power and a duty to fight Demons and keep the peace.

Prerequisite: You must be deputized by an Angel. Any character can take the first Template of this Class during character creation, but if you wish to take it during play, you will need to earn the favor of an Angel who can deputize you.

When you are deputized, you receive a suit of bulky divine armor that provides +1 defense when worn and identifies you as a Deputy. Each time you take a Deputy Template, you may choose one of the following upgrades for your divine armor:

Starts With:

Templates
1: Detect Evil, Oath
2: Sacrifice, Divine Shackles
3: Smite, Divine Gift
4: Wings of Justice

Detect Evil

When within a mile of a Demon, creature from Hell, or escaped convict that has been marked by an Angel, your Divine Mark begins shining and burning. The burning becomes more uncomfortable the closer the trigger.

Oath

Deputies are bound to follow the commandments of the Angels and follow the orders of superior Angels. While your powers cannot be lost, abusing your power or failing to uphold your oath may draw the attention of other deputies, or even Angels. The commandments are as follows.

Sacrifice

As a Free Action, you can transfer lifeforce to any creature you can touch. When you do, choose an amount of Grit to sacrifice. You lose that much Grit, and the target gains twice that amount of Grit. Deputies cannot benefit from each other's sacrifice ability.

Divine Shackles

You may choose a pair of manacles to bless. When you do, they become immune to non-magical damage and cause a burning sensation when locked. Someone locked in divine shackles must make a Mind Check to tell a lie.

You can bless a new pair of manacles by performing a ritual during Rest and Relaxation. If you do, your previous pair becomes a normal set of manacles.

Smite

When attacking, you can choose an amount of Grit to sacrifice. Lose that much Grit and add the same amount of damage to your attack.

Divine Gift
When you kill a creature from Hell, or to uphold your oath, recover Grit equal to the number of Deputy levels you have.

Wings of Justice

You sprout a pair of angelic wings. You can fly. If you are damaged while flying, you must make an Agility check to avoid falling.
